Buckingham Palace has revealed that King Charles is set to re-engage with his royal duties next week.
"After a short break for health reasons, the King has made a remarkable recovery from his recent cancer treatment and is ready to resume his public duties," the palace announced to HuffPost.
In a significant return to royal duties, King Charles and Queen Camilla will start their public engagements with a visit to a cancer treatment center next Tuesday. They will meet with healthcare professionals and patients, marking the beginning of a busy schedule of appearances.
Additionally, the royal couple is excited to host Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan during their state visit to Britain this June, adding an important diplomatic event to their calendar.
Buckingham Palace also released a beautiful new portrait of King Charles and Queen Camilla by renowned photographer Millie Pilkington, celebrating their first coronation anniversary on May 6, 2024.
The palace expressed that "Their Majesties deeply appreciate the heartfelt support and warm wishes they have received from people around the world, enriching their journey through both triumphs and challenges over the last year."
Buckingham Palace revealed on February 5 that King Charles had been diagnosed with cancer. Specific details about the type or severity were not provided. The cancer was discovered during a medical examination for an enlarged prostate.
Following his diagnosis, the palace announced that King Charles would undergo regular treatments and temporarily reduce his public engagements based on his medical team's advice.
Despite these health challenges, King Charles publicly thanked everyone for their support and good wishes from around the world.
